Tempe High School

Tempe High School is a partially selective High School which caters to individual talents and abilities by providing a high quality education through our selective, enrichment and comprehensive streams.

Our students have a wide variety of opportunities. They interact and learn within a diverse and stimulating environment that focuses on supporting each student and encouraging success for all.

Our dedicated, enthusiastic, caring teachers and support staff provide innovative academic, sporting and cultural programs. Well-resourced computer laboratories and excellent career enhancement opportunities, including strong links with university and TAFE, equip our students for future success.

We work in close partnership with our parents and community to make Tempe High School a welcoming and friendly school. Our peer support, pastoral care and mentoring programs ensure our students build social skills and feel cared for and valued in school and their wider community.

While Tempe High School has a tradition of excellence in academic results and student welfare programs, the school is very much focused on the future. In established programs such as a mentor program for students with members of the business community, the Duke of Edinburgh schemeand the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience, we are preparing our young men and women to be what they want the future to be.

Our students have exceptional talents in a range of areas - intellectual, performing and creative arts, physical and social. Beyond the classroom, students have a breadth of opportunity open to them through extension programs, public speaking and debating, International Competitions, excursions, camps, performance showcases, engineering challenges and Artists and Writers in Residence.

Our school welcomes overseas students with a sister school relationship with the Shanghai Experimental High School in China. At Tempe High School we offer a range of opportunities for students to develop and apply their leadership skills.

We have an active Student Representative Council (S.R.C.), School Environmental Committee, Anti-Racism Committee, Peer Support Team and our Prefect Body.

For the last three years, Tempe High School students have been members of the State S.R.C. Our school offers a wide range of competitive and house sports with knockout competitions and grade sport.

Sports include tennis, soccer, football, badminton, cricket, netball and basketball. An effective support system along with clear student well being policies and a defined uniform code creates a safe, caring and fair school setting.

The school has a purposeful and friendly feel with students from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds learning together in harmony. Tempe High School is well serviced by transport links located between Tempe and Sydenham railway stations and on bus routes.
