Our community is proud of Greenwich Public School.
With positive partnerships between staff, students, parents and the wider community, our school is highly regarded in the local area. Greenwich Public School was established in 1876, and is built on two sites situated 1.5 kilometres apart on the Lower North Shore.
Our highly qualified and enthusiastic staff provide challenging programs that promote success. We have a tradition of academic excellence in Literacy and Numeracy, which is reflected in national testing and local, state and national competitions.
A strong learning support system and a differentiated curriculum that caters for all learners, underpins our inclusive educational programs. Students demonstrating gifts and talents are provided with extension opportunities and students with special needs are given access to an adjusted curriculum.
At Greenwich Public School, our students are confident, creative learners who respect each other within a safe learning environment. An annual Kindergarten to Year 6 buddy program allows students of all ages to interact and provides our senior students leadership opportunities.
Enrichment in the creative arts is offered through band, recorder, choir, strings, dance, drama, guitar and keyboard. The new School Hall provides an effective venue for these activities.
Our school has a deep commitment to the Performing Arts with regular representation in regional choir, recorder, drama, band and dance festivals as well as debating and public speaking competitions. A natural outdoor learning environment is a feature of our bushland setting at the Kingslangley Rd campus.
The school oval, tennis court and cricket areas provide perfect locations for sporting and fitness activities as part of our healthy living focus. Representation in interschool (PSSA) sport is a highlight for many of our students.
Our Greenwich Road campus for Kindergarten and Year 1 provides a stimulating play environment complete with creative climbing equipment, vegetable gardens and games area. GOOSH (Greenwich Out of School Hours care) provides a service to families requiring before and after school care and is located on the Greenwich Rd Campus.
The partnerships between the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C), School Council and school have resulted in the provision of many important resources such as a hall sound system, stage curtains, artificial playing surface, interactive whiteboards, garden and library upgrades and additional learning support. Our school is innovative and well resourced with every classroom equipped with an Interactive Whiteboard and a bank of computers.
Technology is seen as a key component of teaching and learning in the 21st century to enhance student learning outcomes. Our two libraries have recently been upgraded to promote student centred learning and a love of reading.
Ongoing professional learning for all staff ensures that we are constantly reflecting on theory and practice to provide a quality education. At Greenwich Public School we celebrate our values of Partnership and Opportunity, Excellence and Success.
