St Aloysius’ College is a Jesuit school for boys and therefore an inheritor of a 500-year-old tradition. Its mission (as founded by Saint Ignatius of Loyola) remains true today in seeking the formation of young men, in companionship with their families, who seek God in all things, possess a faith that does justice and hence are men for others. The College seeks to do this by forming the whole person and encouraging their spiritual, moral, physical, social and intellectual growth.

The College was established in 1879. Since that time it has served the city of Sydney by educating boys from Years 3 to 12 in the Catholic humanistic tradition. The College shares this mission with hundreds of other Jesuit schools throughout the world. St Aloysius’ College enrols over 1200 students and offers a formation that promotes intellectual achievement and encourages its students to pursue strong academic results.

The College has a specific academic orientation; with a focus on the Humanities, the Sciences and the Creative Arts. The College inspires each student to discover his unique gifts and develop them fully. The College seeks to form young men who hold Jesus as the model of human life, possess an intelligent faith and who take their goodness into a world that so desperately needs them.

The academic and faith-formation programs at St Aloysius’ College are supported by an extensive culture of pastoral care and programs that promote wellbeing and fortitude. In addition, the College has a strong commitment to its Co-Curricular program which has been designed to give every student the opportunity to participate fully in the life of the College.

Sport is a popular co-curricular activity and an important element in the overall curriculum, but students are also encouraged to participate in a wide range of other activities which complement the sporting program. These activities include Music, Drama, Cadets, Debating, Public Speaking and Chess. I

n 2023 the College established a new Campus, St Aloyisus' College, Rozelle. The Campus is for our Year 9 students and is a purpose-built curriculum. The design of the program has been informed by the distinctive learning and formation needs of young men as they enter adulthood. The College has a close working relationship with its fellow Jesuit school – Redfern Jarjum College.

St Aloysius’ College is characterised by the diversity of its student population, the humility of its community and its inclusive culture. It desires the formation of young men who believe in Christ and choose a life in service of others.
